eTwinning marathon in Riga

A preparation for the eTwinning marathon started a week before the event. English teacher Loreta Jusienė suggested five girls to participate in this eTwinning project, which was held in Riga, Latvia. We accepted the suggestion without any hesitation and began to prepare for the project. First of all, we shared the tasks: Greta made two eTwinning puppets (yellow and blue), Rasa S. Eglė, Radvilė and Rasa E. prepared a presentation about Panevėžys Juozas Balčikonis gymnasium and our town consulting with their English teacher Loreta Jusienė. We were thrilled about the possibility to participate in this international eTwinning marathon, so we prepared for it very seriously and responsibly.
On 19th of October JBG girls and their teacher joined the students and teachers from Vilnius Žara secondary school (teacher K. Liasovskaja), Pandėlis gymnasium (teacher L.Tichonova) heading towards Riga. Our driver took us to Šiauliai, where the students from Kuršėnai Pavenčiai secondary school and their teacher S.Riškienė had already been waiting for us. On the way to Riga, we had a stop. All Lithuanian group( 24 people) had a chance to know each other better playing a game outside the café. After a short break we continued our journey.
At about 13 o’clock we were in Riga, Agenskalna State gymnasium. Students from Lithuania were kindly welcomed by Latvian peers as well as Latvian eTwinning NSS Guna and Inguna. Students from Agenskalna State gymnasium made an excursion in their gymnasium. They showed us science, music, art, ICT classes and library. All classes are equipped with latest technologies and modern computers. We were really impressed! After the excursion, students and their teachers had a very delicious lunch in the school canteen.
After lunch Lithuanians and Latvians pupils presented their schools, towns and eTwinning activity. Then, students created eTwinning puppets. They were divided into 6 international groups. Some of them created pictures about the future trips of eTwinning puppets, while other groups drew painted, cut pictures and prepared posters. Everybody was involved into the creative activity very much. At the end of this workshop, Lithuanian and Latvian students changed eTwinning puppets they made; presented the pictures they created and promised to see each other again. At the same time, our teachers took a lot of photos and created Blog, where the information about eTwinning marathon was placed.
When this very interesting and funny activity was over, all Lithuanians went to the centre of Riga on a guided tour. Riga's historical centre has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s really worthwhile, because the city is particularly notable for its extensive architecture, which UNESCO considers to be unparalleled anywhere in the world. We were fascinated by the city's architecture and interesting legends about Riga told in English by a Latvian student from Agenskalna State gymnasium.
We are very happy that we had a chance to participate in eTwinning marathon. It was interesting to meet Latvian students, look around their pretty and cool school. At first we were shy, but later all students became friends, found mutual interests. The most significant benefit we got was a chance to communicate in English and intercourse with people we met. We hope our friendship won‘t complete with this trip and Latvians will come to Lithuania, also we expect they will have more time and won't be in such a hurry 
